Portuguese are very fond of galos. The Barcelos or Portuguese rooster represents the Portuguese love of life. Vigo
For me an interesting city nearby is Vigo in Spain an hour’s drive from Ancora. It has a fishing industry, an impressive harbor with steel coasters, fishing boats and smaller versions that commute to the beautiful Ons en Cies Islands. I made a series of work that is inspired by Vigo and its surroundings. Read More

Boundaries
The world in my head is split in two. Apparently, there is a need to divide my new work (January and February 2021) in a bottom and top part with a horizontal separation. The inspiration is the mountains that I can see from my house: the Serra d’Arga and the Serra Luzia.

Just another day
After buying a house in the Minho, Northern Portugal, I divided my time between Amsterdam and Ancora. From 2007 to 2010 my paintings were more personal and kind of figurative. As an experiment I added text fragments and also used gold and silver as an addition to my usual blue tones, I was searching for something new.
