Serra d’Arga
When I am at home in the kitchen, in the garden or working in my atelier I can easily see the Serra d’Arga and the three windmills on this set of mountains. The Serra d’Arga is located in the Alto Minho. The summit is 824 meters high. Like most mountains and mountain ranges in the North of Portugal, the Serra de Arga originates from granite outcrops, and all the rocks in the area are derived directly or indirectly from this plutonic magmatic rock.
From the Serra d’Arga I have a beautiful view of the sea, the rivers the Lima and the Ancora, the villages of Ponte de Lima and Caminha as well as the Spanish province of Galicia. The Âncora river originates in this mountain and throws itself into the sea. The quiet sea resort of Vila Praia de Ancora is located partly at the river and partly at the ocean.
